THE HANGMEN
Rock 'n' Roll Freakshow
Loz Firewalker - Guitar/Vocals
Dr. Kirk - Double Bass
Spoony - Drums |
|
| Brand new EP from UK's legendary psychobilly
band THE HANGMEN. They have been released
on great labels like Crazy Love Records and Tombstone Records,
and have toured extensively through Europe, USA and Canada
sharing stages with The Damned, UK Subs, Demented Are Go and
Nekromantix etc.
On this record you will hear the sounds of psychobilly, punk
rock and rock 'n' roll at all once. With a bonus live track
"Play With Fire" taken from their latest live album
PLAY DEAD (Tombstone Records - TOMBCD 2062)
Even the engineer described the recordings as 'Punkabilly
with the Sex Pistols in mind' and "The Curse" as
one of the nastiest songs he has ever heard in his life!!
Listen to the studio getting trashed at the end of "Let
There Be Drums". Overhead heating, trash cans and a TV
(the last big boom!) were demolished in just a few seconds
as the band got a little carried away right at the end.
First pressing of the EP is available on white vinyl while
supplies last.
Rock 'n' Roll Freakshow is by far the greatest
THE HANGMEN release to date. Don't miss out!

Big Cheese
Issue 62
Dark, moody and highly addictive, The Hangmen's 'Rock 'n'
Roll Freakshow' is a circus full of buzzsaw guitars, rockabilly
cool and glacial lyrics, making this four tracker all killer.

Untergrund gekrochen. Haupttracks sind die neuen Songs "The
curse" und "Firewalker", ein Instrumental-Song
und als vierter ein Live-Stück von ihrer Live-CD. Das
Trio um Loz Firewalker gibt hier alles und es ist nicht übertrieben.
Zum Instrumentalstück "Let there be drums"
Stimme immer sehr sympathisch. Diese EP ist ein guter Neuanfang
und ich bin gespannt auf den angekündigten, neuen Longplayer.
Ob die hier gezeigte Kreativität auch für ein ganzes
Album reicht, wird sich zeigen.

Cultcuts
The latest by long-running British psychobilly outfit THE
HANGMEN is a four song seven inch pressed on ghostly white
vinyl release. Side A kicks off with "The Curse,"
a frigging stomp of a tune. The shenanigans don't stop until
the final cut, a smoking and spooky live version of THE ROLLING
STONES' "Play With Fire." I think my favorite track,
though, is the cover of "Let There Be Drums." Originally
it was a jazzy lounge tune by Cozy Cole, but here in these
sick bastards' hands, it becomes an apocalyptic rock and roll
instrumental. This trio has a lot going for them, from their
irresistible sick sense of humor to their unique sound that
combines early rock and roll and prime CRAMPS-esque psychobilly
mixed with a good chunk of punk. This EP presents THE HANGMEN
at their finest.

The second release from London based Jet 13 records is low
down voodoo sleazebeat punkabilly from a band with a reputation
for randomly appearing as demonic crazed clowns. Side A offerings
"The Curse" and "Firewalker" stalk their
way around the turntable in a blaze of twangy guitar, brylcreem
and ritual sacrifice. Side B kicks in with the mighty "Let
There Be Drums", which features tribal voodoo beats,
surf guitar, and culminates with the sound of the band destroying
everything they could find in the studio including overhead
heating, trash cans, and yes, even the obligatory TV set.
The final nail in the coffin is a live track "Play With
Fire" which is pretty awesome. Recommended for rock n'
roll zombies, B-movie horror freaks, and corpses with quiffs
everywhere.
